- Q1 format is fine, you just need a tiny bit more explanation 
2) Focusing on the BBC Life Hacks question, write three ways it helps to fulfil the BBC's mission statement that you didn't include in your original assessment answer. Use the mark scheme for ideas.

Either side of the advice segments, Life Hacks plays music from the Radio 1 playlist which
provides entertainment for its audience.

Life Hacks offers educational content by addressing issues listeners may not know much

about such as sexual health or mental illness.

3) Question two asked you how useful media effects theories are in understanding the audience response to War of the Worlds. Complete the following:
  • Gerbner's Cultivation theory: useful or not useful? Why?
Useful - it shows how important radio was 
  • Frankfurt School's Hypodermic Needle model: useful or not useful? Why?
Not useful - the newspaper over exaggerated the news about the events. 
  • Stuart Hall's Reception theory: useful or not useful? Why?
Useful - prefer reading would be for the audience to enjoy the story 
Oppositional - the audience took the story as real 

4) Write a full essay plan for the 25-mark Magazines question. The mark scheme contains plenty of ideas you can use here. Your plan should include notes/bullet points addressing the following:
  • Introduction: one sentence answering the original question and laying out your argument clearly.

Magazines had been in the world of media for decades, but it seems like it's drastically loosing their audience and because of that they have to think about ways to bring new audience as well as keep their devoted readers still interested. 

  • Paragraph 1 content: Propp's theory on MH - audience the hero, magazine the helper

  • Paragraph 2 content: Gerber's cultivation theory on MH - the magazine is stereotypical and the readers don't mind it 

  • Paragraph 3 content: bell hooks 'normalised traumatisation' on MH - The audience doesn't feel pressured but encouraged 

  • Paragraph 4 content: Gill's adaptation of Mulvey's 'male gaze' - 'female gaze' - say that it's not sexualised for OC

  • Paragraph 5 content: van Zoonen 'nothing had really changed'  - argue the theorist - example - OC and gender fluidity and transgender section 

  • Conclusion: sum up your argument a final time in one sentence 

Both O'Comely and MH have a specific target audience that which allows them to put less effort in attracting new audience because of the devoted readers that have a very firm idea about their views and enjoys being a part of that community. 

5) Finally, identify three key skills/topics you want to work on in A Level Media this year before the final exams in June.

Definitely revise more in detail, especially the CSP's 
Work on the Q structure
